Despair
Despair,
how did you come
to me,
what have I done?
Did I leave
an open window
and you
sneaked in
quietly
pretending to be
someone I know.
Your gentleness
betrayed me.
Under of veil of peace
you came,
wearing masks
of friends and lovers,
touching gently
warming me up
to the stage
of being in love.
And then
your veil dropped
like leaves
from a tree
with the first touch
of a tender frost.
You failed to sustain your cover,
your evil skeleton
has been revealed to me.
And I
yet amazed with your hiding skills
yet betrayed and left alone
love you even more,
and again
all things have been forgiven.
