Camino, Day 0: Le Comptor de la Nieve
So it happens that I'm on the Journey.
The Pilgrimage began already in Callan, when I was approached by an English bloke who claimed to get a well paid job in States being a masseur to a posh clientèle. His first client was about to be Jessica Alba - he looked plain, with steel toe cap boots and dirt under his fingernails.
I had to force myself not to judge, to take him as he was.
Than there was a bus journey and I was a bit afraid if I'm going to make it to the airport.
Than a taxi & a very nice gentle man.
Than a check in and a few ladies that just couldn't stop chatting...
A got a bit of a grub and drink in a shop and thanking God for Ryanair priority boarding... arrived in Biarritz.
At the Airport I met two Irish lads, Tom and a harcore Camono Chris. Also there was Vincent, with his back pac way too big and way too heavy. He didn't hang around with us much though.
Ant that's where the magic of the Camino started!
In Bayone Tom & I had a beer, later we had a brilliant meal in a place called 'Le Comptor de la Nieve', Caesar Salad with Anchovies instead of Bacon, Parma Ham instead of Chicken and a cold Tomato Soup !!!
We had to take a bus to Bayone (Line no. 6 @ € 1.20)
Arrived @ the train station and took tle last train to St-Jean-Pier-de-Port. After about 50 minutes journey we arrived and went to the Pilgrims Office. Vincent got the last bed because he already had a Credentials from Ireland.
We received our Pilgrims' Passports and were told that all Refugios are full. No beds. Finally we were asked:
- Do you mind sharing a bed?
We looked at one another, laughed and said OK.
We were put to a guest house to a room with two Double Beds, one was already occupied by a German couple. Shower and a stroll around this beautiful town made it all for me tonight. Went to bed excited, hoping to be able to wake up @ 7 am to begin the journey...
Buen Camino!
