Camino, Day 4: Pampalona to Obanos (24,2 km)

We left Pampalona @ around 8 am, after a great breakfast with all friends and Catherine & Michel who were leaving the Camino today.
We went via Cizur Menor towards the city of Puente la Reina.
We climbed the highest part of the journey, 'Alto del Pardon' to witness the celebration of 'Mary the Protector of the Pilgrims' on the top of the mountain and we've observed for the first time gigantic windmills. At the top of the mountain there were sculptures, cut in metal resembling pilgrims throughout the ages. Locals gathered to peregrinate with the statue of Madonna down the hill. This happens ONLY once a year and we just came about to witness it.
In Muruzabal we've met with two Afrikaans, Oto & Pete. We decided (after I advocated a lot about it) to take a detour to Eunate, to see a beautiful Templar Church, a real pearl on the Camino. Unfortunately it was closed so we just walked around and continued our journey.
The Sun was exhausting...
When we arrived in Obanos, we found out that there's a Fiesta @ 6pm and a Bull Run tonight. All (Pete, Oto, Jana, Hanna, Lisa, Tonia & Tom) agreed to stay for the night in Obanos.
We checked in the Albergue and after the refreshing showers joined the Fiesta.
Bull run was interesting but a bit boring.
Than we went to get a dinner. The biggest burger I've ever had in my entire life. Also some kinda local chips (patatas bravas - potato slices frid with garlic and salsa sauce)
The day was beautiful!
Sometimes you won't get to a desired destination but you'll get things you haven't expected...
Amen!
