Camino Finisterre, Day 3(35) - The Magic of Finistera...

This morning we were very relaxed, because it was only 12 km to walk to the end of the world. We knew our friends are not too far behind us and we´ll meet them at Finisterre.
Also it was a day before my birthday and in a way I was getting Excited...
In the morning I realised I had no clean t-shirt, but Camino provides everything and I found an orange ´brass band´t-shirt that someone left behind so I put it on for my walk today.
We stopped for breakfast in Corcubion, got a great cafe con leche and a pastry, and shortly after continued to walk.
The weather was completly misty so the walk we had to take, which was full of beautiful views simply wasn´t ... but in a way it actually gave more to the mystery of the Finisterre.
Arrived at Finisterre around 12 to find out that Albergue only opens @ 1:30 pm, so we got into a pub for another coffee and pastry. We began to pre-celebrate my birthday. We had a 12 year old Glenfiddih Whisky for a toast, what a treat at the End of the World...
And there´s more.
Finally @ 1:30 pm we checked in the Albergue and were waiting for Tonia and the gang to arrive.
They arrived around 3, checked in and we all took our walk to the peninsula, the real Finisterre, to the lighthouse where acording to the tradition you have to burn something, to leave something behind. The 2,5 km walk was lovely but the weather didn´t pick up much.
We arrived at the place to proceed with our ritual, first I burned my straw hat, later after a long thinking it was time to say goodbye to my walking stick (which I called Jimmy), so it happend that he was burned also...
Rebekka also burned her stick that was named Esmeralda...
Than I got a pre birthday present from my friends, beautifull celtic braclet and a great t-shirt. That ment I was able to burn the t-shirt I found last night in Cee... and so I did.
We opened some red wine and waited for the sun set, some of us with no hope for success.

There was more to come. All along the Camino I was waiting for God´s gifts for my birthday. But my expectations were outrunned by His great, wholehearted generosity.

At Finisterre, the weather kept being misty and you could hardly ´see the sea` from the lighthouse there. However I believed (all the time through the Camino) in Divine Intervention.
An guess what, at about half seven the sky started to clear and ... we saw the most beautiful sunset you can imagine, and all that at the end of the world . It was spectacular!

Delighted we came back to the albergue and that night we had to say goodbye to our friend Christina. She was going back home.
Yet another farewell, yet another Buen Camino...

I fall asleep this night very much at peace, full of joy and more.

Buen Camino
