Camino, Day 10: Santo Domingo de Calzada to Belorado (25,9 km)
Today I woke up very happy, I went out to finish my diary. I really wanted to meet Kim again, I was hoping to have a morning coffee with her.
She came round while I was writing and agreed to have a coffee.
We left the Albergue together looking for a coffee place, unsuccessfully, so at the end we wished each other best of luck and went out on the track.
Somehow it was magic, and I felt content.
I continued on my journey and on the way I met Gareth, a great guy from New Zealand and we had a chat, it was excellent.
Arrived in Grañon and had a Hammon Sandwich, and a terrible coffee. That didn't really disturb me, I just soldiered on after a short brake. We had a couple of brakes on the way, we stopped in Villoria de la Rioja, gorgeous Albergue sponsored by Paolo Coelho. Had a lovely mint tea there...
Eventually arrived in Bellorado. I decided to skip the first Albergue and aimed towards 'Cuatro Cantones' which had a swimming pool.
After a registration we all gathered around a wee pool and it took me a while to get in. The water was freezing (ice cold) but it gave my body great refreshment, so I stayed in for about a quarter of an hour. Left to shower and change and left for a stroll. Came back and departed again looking for food, it was Fiesta time in Belorado!
Big stage, lots of people, dancing, beer. It was very, very nice and I tasted some local fried produce (churrito), after all that fiesta I went to bed exhausted and satisfied.
OK, I have 560 km left out of 798 which means I already walked what 240 km, and that is the longest I have ever walked in my life...
Pray for me,
Buen Camino!
